5 minutes or less - Do it Now

So today I tackled some paperwork that I have spent hours and days and months procrastinating about. I thought it would take SOOO much time and energy to find the answers and fill out. then i read that it could be filled out and processed online.."oh great!", I thought, "so much easier." So sitting down to do it and watching the 20 minute webinar on HOW to go about doing it, i made the decision to take the paperwork out of the envelope and look at it again. I laughed because it only required me to answer 6 questions and fill in a few numbers that were easy to calculate. time to accomplish ACTUAL task and put back in the postage paid envelope = 5 minutes.

I have procrastinated at this task for over 240 hours of my life and it has drained my energy a countless amount just thinking about doing it AND I have written it on SEVERAL to-do lists. :) next time, I will just DO IT!

Now, I just have to mail it!

Life changes every day. My life is going through some big ones. I will navigate and seek guidance and do my very best. I will be fine.

A NEW YEAR!!! a clean freezer AND ways to save money!

Today I spent defrosting the freezer. It's so nice to have a new, clean space to fill for a new month. I decided to cook up a bunch of Hamburger to have all ready to use. It seems that is the basis of so many of my quick and easy favorite meals. With having teens in the house it's also great for them to be able to whip something up in a hurry.

I have often frozen my pre-cooked hamburger using a gallon bag. But then I end up with a large clump of meat that has to be pounded or broken apart because I only want to use part of it. Then I saw this method!!! You divide portions before it's frozen and you can still use the larger bag. I know I could just use smaller size bags, but often i want more meat than that since my teens are such BIG eaters and the smaller bags get "lost" in the freezer.
I got this great idea from Lunch in a Box
website.
I have tried it and hope it works well!

Last night I sat and put on paper the monthly budget. I attempted my first ever "zero-balance" budget. This is where all the money is spent on paper for each category of the budget and you are left with zero. I love the idea, even if I haven't accomplished it yet. ;-) So, looking at the facts facing me on paper I decided to be pro-active, in the only category I have control over at this point in my life, and begin stocking the freezer with the basics. Not only saving me money (the hamburger was found at FM for only $1.79lb), but saving time as well.

I also drove the family out of the kitchen by chopping up a whole Costco size bag of onions to freeze for shortcut cooking too!

I feel a sense of accomplishment for the day and also a little time saved for the future! Cheers to a New Year!
